Trust Your Gut

In this interview we take a spiritual twist on all things gut health.

Did you know your gut is your second brain?

We often get “gut feelings” about things in our life.

When we are anxious, stressed or lonely …. our gut can be the first thing to tell us something is wrong.

This might manifest as something like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).

We deep dive into the concept of trusting your gut by using your wise intuition, while also covering the basics of having a healthy gut for total body health.

The gut houses most of the immune system and plays a role in hormone regulation, mental health, immune function and more!

Our thoughts, environment, diet, relationships….all impact the state of our gut!

KYLIE’S STORY

My name is Kylie Fagnano. I am a Registered Dietitian, trained as an Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner, as well as a Certified Leap Therapist.

I earned my BS in Psychology and my Master’s in Nutrition in Scranton, PA. I then moved to Portland, ME for a few years, where Strata Nutrition was born out of my little apartment!

Shortly after my move to Portland, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid gland, causing a cascade of life-disrupting symptoms.

When the only medical treatment option I was offered was thoughtless and unacceptable, I turned to my food and my gut.

I realized how fortunate I was to have the resources and tools to take control of my health in this way. Knowing that this is NOT true for most people in similar situations is one of the observations that drives me to do this work.

We all deserve to understand the aspects of our health that are actually in our control — even if these pieces of information are not often discussed or shared.

The work that I ask and expect from my clients is the same work that I did for myself. I *literally* understand what it feels like, what other feelings the process can bring up, and how lonely and hopeless it can sometimes seem.

Outside of the nutrition field, I love moving around and being playful.

I have been a dancer my entire life, and I continue to take classes and teach.

I love to garden, sew, and I earned my blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!

I also LOVE to travel. Pre-COVID plans included traveling the world for the entire year and running my business remotely… Needless to say, that was canceled.

Maybe most importantly to you — I love my work.

My heart is so filled up when I’m partnering with motivated clients who are really ready for change. Being invited on someone’s deep and emotional journey is a true honor.

While I may not understand your exact pain or your precise situation, I do understand what it is like to be in pain.

I relate to struggle, confusion, and feelings of hopelessness.

If you decide you want to spend your time, energy, and resources working with me, you’ll be getting someone who wants you to win, someone who has your back, and someone who wants to see you succeed.
