Reiki and Women’s Health

Have you ever heard of energy healing? Do those words totally sound crazy to you?

If you have never heard of reiki or not sure if you believe in energy healing…. that is ok!

I encourage you to take two minutes to explore more. And… if at the end of this article you’re still not sure. That is fine!

At least you took the time to light up your brain and learn about something new and different.

So, let’s get started.

Reiki (pronounced “ray key”) is a form of energy healing, that originated from Japanese culture. Reiki can help to address physical and emotional imbalances, by enabling the body and spirit to become harmonized.

Reiki and Your Healing Journey

If you incorporate a healing therapy, you may find it  can be very beneficial as you move towards whole body health. As women, we are beautiful and hormonally complex beings. Addressing our health (usually hormone imbalances is what I see in my practice) at a physical, emotional and energetic level can be so powerful!

Take this study for example:

A study was done with 22 patients; 13 with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, six with Ulcerative Colitis, and three with Crohn’s disease. This study was created to analyze the perception of each participant following a course of healing therapy, and the data was collected via an interview.

Each participant received a 30 minute session of a healing treatment for a duration of 5 weeks, administered by practicing members of the ‘Healing Trust’.

The type of therapy used for this study was administered from the practicing member to the patient via their hands usually at a distance of 10-12 inches above the body, with some light touching as well. Reiki works in a very similar way… that is why this study is so cool!

After treatment, patients reported improvement in their symptoms, pain reduction and better GI function. Take a look at the table for more information.

Let’s Break it Down

Our bodies can be characterized as a unique machine…all the parts have to work together to maintain a state of “homeostasis” or balance.

Everyone operates a little differently. That being said, we may have similar physical or emotional triggers that create imbalance.

However, how our bodies respond can be different.

By using personalized care with an emphasis on an integrative model, we can achieve more!

This is why I love to incorporate principles of reiki and energy healing with clients when appropriate.
