Purchasing organic high-quality foods is key to your health. Pesticide use in foods can contribute to a multitude of health issues, including fertility and reproductive health problems.

Studies show that diets high in organic foods show an overall reduced link in cancer.

Tips

Visit a local farmers market to see what is in season and they also have lower priced organic foods available. Also, these foods have traveled less miles which results in higher nutrient density.

It is important to note that some farmers at these markets do not have the organic label as the process is very expensive. If you feel that you can trust these farmers, then go for it!

Buy frozen options at the grocery store. Frozen options (fruit or veggies) at the grocery store have been picked at their peak ripe state and haven’t been preserved to get to the consumer

Reduce the amount that you eat out or get to go options. Use that money to invest in higher quality foods at the grocery store

Follow the Environmental Working Group (The Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen List). They come out with a new list every year that will tell you which foods have the highest amounts of pesticides in them so you know which foods you will definitely want to buy organic.

The Clean Fifteen List will let you know which foods have the least amount of preservatives in them and would be okay to buy non-organic.
