How to Get Rid of Brain Fog
Up in the clouds?
Not productive?
There are a few reasons you may be experiencing brain fog.
I commonly see this in my clinic. And I also see it resolve super quick with appropriate nutrition and lifestyle changes.
So let’s get right into it. Here are four main reasons you may be experiencing brain fog.
1. Blood sugar imbalance:
As busy, productive women it’s easy to skip meals, load up on caffeine and snack your way through the day. No sweat- it happens! Try working to balance your blood sugar with 3 meals per day and protein at each meal
2. Lack of sleep:
Without your Zzz’s, it’s truly hard to see changes in health. I challenge you to indulge in sleep, dream states and deep rest. It’s so healing and you might find many other things improve in your life when you start sleeping enough.
Aim for 7-9 hours and try to hit the hay earlier as your biological clock prefers a 10-11pm (maybe midnight if you’re a night owl) bedtime as opposed to 1-2am bedtime.
Personally, if I’m past 10:45pm I am wrecked the next day. Get in touch with your body- it tells you what it wants!
3. Gut dysbiosis:
This can be tricky, essentially the bacteria species in your large intestines are out of balance.
Unwanted yeast, bacteria and parasites can contribute to brain fog. And there are many other contributing factors. Basically if the bacteria are out of balance bad bugs and yeast can overgrow and may contribute to brain fog.
In addition, many women may find themselves on birth control, metformin or over the counter pain meds. These can all contribute to gut dysbiosis.
Try limiting processed foods, excess sugar and fuel the microbiome with fresh, real food. Oversight from a provider can also be really supportive in this area. You’re not meant to know everything!
That’s why people (like me) do this sort of thing 40 or so hours per week!
